The form of this silverplated tankard is illustrated in the trade supplement of the “Furniture Gazette, XIV, 1880, on page 40, as an example of “Japanese Art Metal-work, imported by Dresser & Holme .…” The piece is also documented in the ‘Elkington & Co. Pattern Book,” c. 1885, as model no. 17147
DESCRIPTION:
Silverplate with ebony handle.
CONDITION:
Monogrammed. Minor wear consistent with age and usage.
MARKED:
Impressed hallmark “H&H”, the number “2089”, as well as later owner-added (inventory?) numbers. Monogrammed “EMB”.
